Yes. For the future, we are developing a mobile app that will let readers lend and sell books to one another. We may eventually charge de minimis amounts (think $1) on this website to gauge whether people are willing to pay to rent books. Until that potentially happens, however, all books are free.

We’re building an app that will let people lend out or sell books from their own personal libraries. The idea is to make it easy for owners to share or sell their books at low prices or lend them for free in their local communities—cutting out the cost of shipping. Our hope is that the app encourages reading, connection, and community among people who want to share and discuss the books they love with others who might love them too.

We’re not trying to replace Free Little Libraries, public libraries, or bookstores—we love and use all of them. We’ve simply noticed that Free Little Libraries often contain books people are ready to part with or copies that are worn out. Our goal is different: we want to share the vast majority of our personal library to help spread a passion for reading.

Yes. That information is your name, email address, and address. We request this information so we can contact renters, for example, to let them know their book is ready for pickup or to request that they return an overdue book. We do not provide this information to anyone else. We are currently sharing all books for free, so we do not require any payment details (e.g., credit card).

Please return the book into the same box on the doorstep of 309 Wolfe Street that you picked the book up from. Please also feel free to knock on the door and say hi—but do not feel pressure to do so.
